Couples Counseling

Stuck in the same fight?

“We have the same fight over and over. It has been 20 years, and we can’t even get past this one issue – not to mention all our other problems. Is there any hope for us?”

The truth is, yes, there is always hope. It doesn’t matter if you have been having problems for a week or decades, couples counseling can help you resolve conflicts and disagreements that seem impossible.

Should one-half of the relationship come to therapy?

It is much easier to make a relationship better when both parts of the couple are in therapy and engaged. Often when people come to couples’ sessions, they are worried that they will be judged or that the therapist will side with one person or the other. In my approach, it is more about personal responsibility and not who is right or wrong.

In session, we will identify what each person’s needs are, how you can best meet your partner’s needs, how to avoid and resolve conflict, and how to communicate in healthy ways.

Not every therapist enjoys couples counseling.

As a matter of fact, a lot of therapists actively avoid couples counseling, because it is more difficult than individual counseling. I, however, have developed a passion for couples counseling. When done properly, along with the added difficulty, there also comes an additional reward.

My goal is not just for you to have a marriage that you can tolerate, but a marriage that you cherish and that your friends and family envy.
